Director of Brewing Operations
A full-time leadership position that will report to the owner.
This position will work directly with our Head Brewer to oversee & grow all brewing operations.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Assist with final construction & opening of our production brewery
Lead all day-to-day activities necessary to produce high quality, consistent beer
Coordinate & build a brewing schedule to meet sales & event needs
Develop performance and productivity metrics for all production areas
Develop sensory panel to ensure all beer meets highest consistency and quality expectations before release
Develop, write, and uphold SOPs
Establish a new product development program
Ensure compliance with all Alcohol and Tobacco, Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) standards, and required documentation
Ensure compliance with all NYS Liquor Authority requirements, filings, and documentation
Develop / manage reports on daily brewing operations, quality and exceptions
Assist with brewing, cellaring, packaging, cleaning, organizing and events as needed
Financial reporting, budget development, brewing analysis & process review
Coordinate and manage repairs & maintenance, at all brewery locations
Manage yeast health and beer fermentations, clean and wild barrel program, production & brewpub programs including creating new and unique processes and beer recipes reflective of these spaces
Coordinate all packaging needs
Leadership
Lead, inspire, & educate employees to achieve their defined goals,
consistently monitoring performance & creating development plans
Ensure proper management of all shifts, which includes daily decision-making, staff
support, scheduling, & planning while upholding standards, product quality, & cleanliness

Experience / Skills / Ability
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a professional brewer
Exceptional organizational & communication skills to a variety of audiences
Results driven leader with demonstrated success managing and achieving operational and financial goals
Experience managing 6 or more employees in a brewery setting
Experience and understanding of preventive maintenance, ordering and inventory management, record keeping and data analysis.
Extensive experience and understanding of the brewing process, sanitation, yeast health and fermentation and beer transfer and clarification
Experience with brewery quality assurance and quality control plans
Experience in the theories and production of mixed fermentation/wild beer styles
Formal brewing education a plus
Experience with Ekos / OBeer a plus
Advanced computer proficiency including MS Office Suite / Google Strong capacity to both lead and participate in cross-functional teams to define issues and agree on processes, strategies, and outcomes
A self-motivated approach, with strong work ethic, requiring limited oversight
Ability to lift 65 pounds and move 175 pounds regularly
Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, work from heights, stoop, kneel, and crouch
Ability to work in a loud, wet, cold, hot, indoor and outdoor environment frequently
